Extra WatchJoke

Just a little humor to brighten your WatchDay.

Dear Rorschach,

I will be long gone before you get this but I want to let you know that I am sorry that you had to be set up. I know when you walked into my house you were expecting to talk to me but instead found me dead. You might be in jail right now or worse but I can assure you that whatever happens, it was not my doing to have you captured. I am very sorry and hope eventually that you find a way to bust out of jail and do whatever Watchmen do.

Yours Truly,
Edgar Jacobi

1. If Roschach had never been unmasked how would the story have changed?

2. How do the newspaper man and the guy reading the comic book play into the story line of Watchmen?

3. How does clockwork get involved in the story?

4. Who is the most complex character and why?

5. How do Dr. Manhattan's emotions affect the book?

RORSCHACH'S JOURNAL.
OCTOBER 11th, 1985.

I SEE THIS AWFUL CITY BEFORE ME DAY AFTER DAY. IT IS AN ANIMAL, A DYING MONSTER.
THERE IS NO ESCAPE. NOT FOR ME. I HAVE A DUTY TO PERFORM IN NEW YORK AND I WILL NOT COMPROMISE. NOT EVEN IN THE FACE OF ARMAGEDDON.

NEVER COMPROMISE.

THE POLICE WILL NOT GIVE UP. THEY WILL SEARCH FOR ME UNTIL WE ARE BOTH DEAD. THEIR HUNT IS FRUITLESS. I WILL NEVER BE FOUND. I CAN SIMPLY PEEL OFF MY FACE AND DISAPPEAR, BECOMING ONE WITH THE MONSTER I AM COMPELLED TO PROTECT.

NOW IT IS DARK. NOW I MUST FIGHT THE ENDLESS WAR AGAINST THE DARK UNDERBELLY OF MY AWFUL HOME.

RORSCHACH, OCTOBER 11th, 1985.

1. Did Rorschach really have to die?

2. Would anyone have believed him if he made it back to New York?

3. Will Seymour pick up Rorschach's journal?

4. Will the New Frontiersman publish it?

5. What did Dr. Manhattan mean by "Nothing ever ends"?

6. Was it right of Adrian to kill half of New York?

7. What about Edward Blake?

8. Is it right to see the world as Rorschach does, with a black-and-white morality view?

9. Was the Comedian good or bad in the end? (Of course, this question assumes you have a Rorschach black-and-white morality)

10. Will Robert Redford be elected president in 1988, therefore lending the Watchmen timeline some semblance with ours?
